IMPAX 6.5.1 Client Knowledge Base: Extended > Administering IMPAX > Configuring image display
You can define a whole series of default Image area behaviors in the User Profile tab of the Customize dialog. Some of these options take effect only the next time studies are cycled or opened in the Image area.
To set the Image area startup defaults
If setting preferences for other users, impersonate the user or role.
Press F12 or, from the Image area top toolbar, click Customize. ![]()
In the Customize dialog, switch to the User Profile tab.
Under Startup Defaults, select or clear the following checkboxes to reflect user preferences.
| Checkbox | When selected |
|---|---|
| View Key Images Only | When selected, only key images are displayed for studies in the Image area. If no key images are available, the entire study is displayed |
| Display demographics | Patient demographics are shown by default on all study images. |
| Dock Scout Window | The Scout palette opens fixed in the upper-left position of the Image area, not obscuring any study images. |
| Prompt to save study | The user is prompted to save study changes before closing the study. |
| Disable body part | Omits the Body Part field, leaving only the Modality field, for defining modality preferences, hanging protocols, default tools, screen layout options, image wizards, and so on. |
| Show Available Series | Displays the Available Series palette by default, for studies that have undisplayed series. |
| Right mouse click shows text menu | On right-click, the context toolbar displays a text menu rather than buttons. (The buttons appear on Ctrl + right-click.) |
| Double click displays image full screen | Double-clicking an image enlarges it to full screen size. Double-clicking it again returns it to default display. |
| MR: Use generated series descriptions | If selected, IMPAX generates a series description that can be included when defining a hanging protocol; otherwise, IMPAX uses the series description as the generated series description. |
| CT: Consistent HFS image orientation presentation | Presents all CT head first supine (HFS) studies with right to left orientation, unless rotations or flips have been saved with the study. Images flipped by this option are marked with a rotation symbol on the right. |
| Invert mouse wheel | Reverses the direction in which you scroll through images in a series and the effect of the scroll wheel on magnification. |
| Prompt before applying IMPAX Presentation State | Prompt when the user tries to apply a tool while viewing the softcopy presentation state. |
| Embed windows | Displays floating palettes fixed at the left side of the images. If selected, you can determine where the Available Series palette is embedded. We strongly recommend that the unembedded Available Series palette be used when viewing mammography images. Embedding them creates gaps, takes away from the available Image area, and when embedded at the top of the Image area, causes misalignment of breasts in certain CRM views. |
| Show All Markups | Shows all markups for the Display Markup Toggle tool by default. |
| Save Cycle List on Close/Logout | Saves the cycle list if you log out without closing any cycled studies. The contents are preserved and available upon login again, including any studies that were set-aside. If selected and more than one user logs in with the same user ID, any updates made to the Cycle List by one user is reflected in the other users' Cycle Lists. |
| Display CT Scout in separate series | Determines if CT Scout images are displayed in a separate series. If selected, you can then specify the position of the series in the Available Series palette: first series or last series. |
Click Apply.
To save the changes and close the Customize dialog, click OK.
![]() | Tip: Modality-specific defaults are set in the Modality Preferences tab of the Customize dialog. |
