Defining modality preferences


When authenticating with a smart card, impersonation is not available.

To set user preferences for a specific modality or a modality and body part combination, use the Modality Preferences tab of the Customize dialog.

To define modality preferences

  1. If setting preferences for other users, impersonate the user or role.

  2. Press F12 or, from the Image area top toolbar, click Customize.

  3. In the Customize dialog, switch to the Modality Preferences tab.

  4. Select the Modality to apply the preferences to.

  5. If applicable, select the Body Part to apply the preferences to.

    The availability of the Body Part list is controlled by the Disable body part checkbox in the User Profile tab of the Customize dialog.

  6. Set the following options according to user preference:

    Option Meaning
    Default Tool The tool activated by default for studies from the modality: No Tool, Window Level, Zoom, Magnify Rectangle, Markup Caliper, Cine Viewer, or Template.
    Apply window/level presets Whether to apply valid window level presets by default.
    Window level with a dynamic range Whether to base the data range of window leveling on the values in the image file header or on maximum and minimum pixel values.
    Apply Estimated Radiographic Magnification Factor Whether to apply ERMF by default to all studies from the modality. Disabled for modalities that do not include an ERMF.
  7. Click Apply.

  8. To define preferences for other body parts, repeat steps 5–7. To define preferences for other modalities, repeat steps 4–7.

  9. To save the changes and close the Customize dialog, click OK.
