What is IMPAX for Breast Imaging?

IMPAX for Breast Imaging is a software application intended for use by, or on the order of, radiologists trained to review and analyze mammographic and other relevant medical images, either on softcopy or hardcopy, and other evidence documents to record their findings. The product is also intended to be used for screening purposes. Using a Breast Imaging Radiologist license gives access to all features of IMPAX for Breast Imaging.

The users of this device must at all times observe the rules of good clinical practice and carefully interpret the information computed by and/or displayed on this device and corroborate it with other clinical and technical patient data.

Fundamental IMPAX features and tools—such as viewing worklists, displaying reports, basic transformation of study images, and creating markups—are available under all IMPAX Client licenses. Most licenses, including the Breast Imaging Radiologist license, also include exporting features such as creating key images, CD burning, and DICOM printing.

The Breast Imaging Radiologist license always includes support for:

• Creating and using hanging protocols

• Automation through image wizards and scripts

• Comparative review of mammography studies

• Display of CAD objects

Other IMPAX features can optionally be made available under the Breast Imaging Radiologist license as required. These include:

• Integrated TalkStation dictation

• 3D volumetric rendering

• Orthopaedic surgery planning

• Quality control of study data

• Creation and display of teaching files

The Configure area is not available under a Breast Imaging Radiologist license.
