IMPAX 6.5.1 Client Knowledge Base: Extended > Planning for orthopaedic patients
You can choose specific images from a study in the Image area and open them individually in the Pre-Surgical Planning window. You can also complete post-surgical and tracking activities in this window.

To open images into the Orthopaedic Application window
In the Image area, use the Image Selection tool to select up to 20 images for pre-surgical planning.
Navigate to the first image that requires pre-surgical planning.
From the context or top toolbar, click Template.
or
If using the context toolbar text menu (Ctrl + right-click), select Markup > Template.
Template can be defined as the default tool, in which case you may not have to activate it.
Click an image that requires pre-surgical planning.
The image is displayed in the Orthopaedic Application window. This window is normally configured to display on a standard color monitor rather than a diagnostic monitor.
To open another image, in the Orthopaedic Application window, click Load File.
From the Images directory, select the file to view.
The files are called impax_hectec_1.dcm, impax_hectec_2.dcm, impax_hectec_3.dcm, and so on.
![]() | Note: You can review the images for only one patient at a time in the Orthopaedic Application. If you switch to another patient in the Image area while the Orthopaedic Application is open, you are asked to save your current work and close the window. |
