TalkStation is voice recognition software that can be integrated with IMPAX. TalkStation can convert speech to text without having to go through a transcription phase. When TalkStation is integrated with IMPAX and the IMPAX application is correctly configured, a user with dictation permissions automatically gains access to TalkStation after logging into IMPAX. The TalkStation window is hidden by default, but can be brought to the foreground at any time through a menu or a SpeechMike.
IMPAX and TalkStation get synchronized with each other when the Start Dictation button is selected, as IMPAX passes the accession number of the study or studies to be dictated to TalkStation. If another order or report was open in TalkStation, it would be saved (if needed) and closed, and the new study order is loaded. A manual synchronization option is also available, for synchronizing without starting a dictation.
If you move to another patient's studies in IMPAX in the midst of reporting on a previous study in TalkStation, TalkStation saves the report in progress and clears its dictation window. This ensures that reports from two patients are not accidentally combined.
