IMPAX 6.5.1 Client Knowledge Base: Extended > Reading studies > Interpreting breast images
IMPAX automatically displays mammography studies in the configured Comparative Review Mode:
If the modality type equals MG
If the body part equals BREAST
If a Comparative Review Mode is configured
If an image is present that matches the Comparative Review Mode view
One CC or MLO image must be present for a Current Only or Prior Only view to be enabled. One current and one prior CC or MLO image must be present for a Current/Prior Compare view to be enabled.
You can then step through the rest of the modes in a comparative review sequence. These modes are designed for optimal screening of breast images.
![]() | CAUTION! In a non-IMPAX RIS environment, do not re-assign the right and left arrow keys from patient navigation. If reassigned, the behavior can resort back to patient navigation. For example, you assign the right and left arrow keys to Comparative Review Mode navigation. A study in the Cycle List then fails verification and a demographic warning is displayed. If you do not acknowledge the warning, the right and left arrow keys are active but resort back to patient navigation instead of the expected Comparative Review Mode navigation. |
To navigate through a comparative review sequence
From the Image area top toolbar, click Next Comparative Review Mode. ![]()
or
If configured on your workstation, use the keyboard shortcut assigned to the next Comparative Review Mode.
The mammography study is displayed in the next mode. If some of the required studies or images are not available for the Comparative Review Mode (for example, a prior study is unavailable), the mode is skipped as the sequence button is disabled.
![]() | Note: Stepping through a comparative review sequence is a loop. If the last Comparative View Mode of the list is applied and you click Next Comparative Review Mode, the study is displayed in the first mode of the list. |
