IMPAX 6.5.1 Client Knowledge Base: Extended > Dictating and reviewing reports > Highlighting key images for clinicians
Highlight the most clinically relevant images of the study for clinicians or other radiologists by adding key images to the report or the study. You can add a single image or single frame of a multiframe image to a specified key image note. This key image is added to a key image note series (based on document title) the Available Series Palette of the Image area. Key images can also be attached directly to the report by selecting the For Report Attachment document title. These key images are listed in the Report pane of the Text area.

To manually add key images
In the Image area, right-click the image to highlight the key image and open the content menu.
The image you select can be a key image; however, you cannot add the key image to the document title category it already exists in, unless it is a third-party key image.
From the context menu, select Add to Key Images.
![]() | Note: Key images are synchronized with other facilities in multi-site environments if synchronization destinations are enabled. |
To properly categorize the image, select the appropriate document title.
To make key images available for viewing in the Text area, you must select For Report Attachment as the document title.
In the Image area, a key image note is added as a series in the Available Series Palette and the key image is added to it. A key
is added at the top of the original image to indicate it is flagged as a key image. You can hover the key to display what document title or titles the image was added to.
If For Report Attachment was selected, in the Text area under the Report bar, a thumbnail of the key image appears. By default, all markups are shown on the key image thumbnail, even if you have the Image area set to show only your markups or show no markups on images.
Repeat steps 1 to 3 for any additional key images you want to add.
Any markup added to the original image after the key image has been created, is not added to the key image. In addition, any markup added to a key image is not added to the original image.
![]() | Note: When you add a key image with the For Report Attachment document title, the thumbnail in the Text area shows all presentation changes, such as markups, that were made on the original image, even those that have not been saved. If you open the same study later, the key image thumbnail shows only the presentation changes that were actually saved. |
