IMPAX 6.5.1 Client Knowledge Base: Extended > Exporting reports and images > Importing and exporting studies
Using the Advanced Search, you can import studies from a CD or DVD that, for example, contains prior studies a patient had taken at a clinic. After finding the studies, you can import them into the image cache. From the image cache, you can open them for viewing.
![]() | Important! The CD or DVD import process stops when the IMPAX Client automatically logs you out. If you are importing many large studies, we recommend disabling automatic logout or extending the automatic logout idle time to ensure all studies are imported. |
To import studies from a CD or DVD
Insert the CD or DVD into the CD-ROM drive.
In the List area, click the Advanced Search bar to expand it.
From the Search for list, select Studies.
You cannot apply any search criteria when searching a CD or DVD. All studies on the CD or DVD are listed in the search results.
Click the Location arrow.
Beside the drop-down list, select the checkbox.
From the list, select the CD-ROM or DVD drive.
Click Search.
All studies on the CD or DVD are listed.
Select the study or studies to be imported.
From the Advanced Search menu
,
select Import.
The images are imported to the image cache.

Remove the CD or DVD from the drive.
In the Advanced Search, change the location to System.
The image cache appears.
You can now open the images.
