Finding studies using Advanced Search

If given permission to do so, you can perform complex searches for studies using the Advanced Search.

Note:

Note:

Do not attempt a search with an empty constraint.

To find studies using Advanced Search

  1. In the List area, click the Advanced Search bar to expand it.

  2. From the Search for list, select Studies.

  3. From the Add Criteria list, select the criteria to search on.

  4. Refine the search expression by adding and removing criteria to get the appropriate results.

If your system administrator constrained your search, you will receive a message indicating you must include patient ID, global patient ID, accession number, or patient name (minimum three characters) as one or more of your search options.

  5. Type or select the values to search on for each criteria.

  6. Select the location to search.

By default, System is selected. System searches are executed on the local IMPAX cluster.

  7. Optionally, to add these results to previous search results, clear the New Search checkbox.

By default, all results from a previous search are cleared from the results list when you run a new search. But, if you are searching for a patient using variations of his or her name, adding the search results to the previous list is useful.

  8. Optionally, save the search as a favorite to be later available in the Favorite searches list.

  9. Click Search.

The search results are listed. Your system administrator sets the maximum number of studies displayed. If the number of studies found (indicated in the Search bar) is greater than that number, narrow the search constraints and search again.

Tip

Tip:

When a search is in progress, you can stop it by clicking the Stop button that appears next to the Search button.
