New in IMPAX 6.2 Server

Some highlights of IMPAX 6.2 Server include:

• IMPAX supports iCAD markers for detection of tumors and microcalcifications on digital mammography images, and additional Comparative Review Modes (CRM) for display of digital mammography exams. To support this, additional field mapping attributes are available for series, object, and object_detail. As well, an additional field mapping grammar function has been added: getdicomstring. These new functions can be used to perform actions such as creating body part field mappings, flipping images automatically, and customizing mammography hanging_protocol mappings.

• As of IMPAX 6.2, only successfully HIS verified studies are prefetched.

• Autopilot no longer incorrectly calculates cache space on partitioned drives.

• The Administration Tools are accessible in 23 languages: Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Czechoslovakian, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, and Thai.

• IMPAX can HIS verify against Connectivity Manager for multiple RIS domains within a single IMPAX cluster.

• Support for the IMPAX image viewer to be used as a Radiology image viewer for the Heartlab workstation.

• Support for legacy SE releases.

• A new single-server configuration.

• As of IMPAX 6.2, only successfully HIS verified studies are prefetched.

The following features were added to IMPAX 6.1, and are still available in IMPAX 6.5.1:

• IMPAX now supports multiple RIS's and multiple Connectivity Managers in the cluster.

• DICOM Part 10 is supposed for storage of data.

• Split and merge actions on studies are now propagated to other DICOM entities in the cluster. As a result, objects to be split or merged must be in cache.

• Preset demographic layouts for print now include a page number field.

The following Administration Tools features were added to IMPAX 6.0, and are still available in IMPAX 6.5.1:

General

• Product name changed from Service Tools to Administration Tools, to more accurately reflect the functionality.

• The IMPAX cluster includes an Application Server, which controls the flow of information between the IMPAX Server and the Clients. If Application Servers are changed or added after initial installation, the connection to the authentication service must be configured.

• AS300 servers are armored for greater security. Details about the new security features are available in Configuring security in IMPAX.

• The auditing features added as of an IMPAX 5.2 Service Pack are now fully documented in this Knowledge Base component. They are described in Monitoring IMPAX audit records.

New managers

The following managers have been introduced:

• Enumerated Values Manager, which sets additional parameters for the Server and defines values to be used when configuring and searching for studies in the Client.

• Study Presentation Manager, which combines a modality’s intended display function with the local monitor's calibration measurements to achieve a more consistent display of studies.

• Web Compression Manager, which enables lossy wavelet compression in the web cache and controls the server-side compression ratios used to store lossy wavelet images of different types to the web cache.

Removed managers

The following managers are no longer included in the Administration Tools:

• Access Control Manager. User and role permissions are now defined in the Configure area of the IMPAX Client.

• User Manager. Users and roles are now configured in the Configure area of the IMPAX Client.

• Activity Reports Manager. This manager controlled how teleradiology stations ran statistical reports on system activity. No equivalent functionality exists in IMPAX 6.5.1.

• Orthopaedic Templates Manager. Instead, an Orthopaedic Application is integrated with the IMPAX Client.

Archive Manager

• You can set DLT capacity.

• New filters are available for searching for volumes or carriers.

• The ability to abandon DLT volumes has been added.

• You can now monitor archive progress in DLT archives.

Autopilot Management

• You can set the conditions under which Autopilot automatically closes an open volume before the volume is full.

Source Manager

• Compressor and Compressor Scheduler have a new interface.

Study Manager

• The interface has been modified for several Study Manager features, including searching for studies, merging physician names, deleting studies, and locking or unlocking studies.
