Some highlights of IMPAX 6.4 Server include the following.
Functionality
Using the Image Access Manager to set the priorities of remote server stations, so that the appropriate cache is accessed when IMPAX Clients request images.
IMPAX has the ability to manipulate DICOM images through a number of DICOM utilities. These utilities are now documented.
The Administration Tools interface is now available in Russian, as well as the other languages previously available.
In the Network Manager interface, PACS Broker stations are now more accurately called HIS/RIS stations.
In Source Manager, the Compressor Scheduler Configuration tab is now more accurately called the Compressor tab, and its interface text has been clarified.
Some aspects of PACS Archive Provider (PAP) configuration have been made more streamlined and consistent.
DICOM field mappings are now applied to the study before HIS verification, automatic archiving, and routing rules are applied.
The IMPAX Documentation is now accessible from the Administration Tools Help menu (as long as the documentation is installed).
MOD archives are no longer supported; no direct attached archives are supported for AS3000 servers.
You can now configure how long IMPAX waits before acknowledging C-MOVE requests.
Oracle Data Guard configurations, involving a primary and a standby database server, are now supported. Tools for monitoring Oracle Data Guard configurations are also available, along with methods for maintaining Oracle Data Guard configurations.
Oracle database backups have been enhanced with a new Flashback mechanism that combines disk and tape backups. And Oracle tape and disk backups are configured differently.
It is now possible to perform a cold backup of an AS300 Oracle database.
Oracle database recovery can be performed using Flashback.
You can now upgrade an AS3000 cluster as a whole using the Trust Tool. Refer to the IMPAX 6.4 AS3000 Upgrade and Migration Guide—IMPAX 6.2 or later to IMPAX 6.4.
Installs and upgrades
For new IMPAX AS300 installations, Oracle for Windows is supported. If using Oracle, Database Servers can be installed under 64-bit versions of Windows 2003.
The IMPAX AS300 Database Server now runs on SQL Server 2005.
New upgrade paths: IMPAX 5.3 and 6.3 servers can be upgraded to IMPAX 6.4, but upgrading from IMPAX 6.0 is no longer supported.
For new IMPAX AS3000 installations, Oracle Standard Edition is supported.
The IMPAX AS3000 Server now uses DataDirect ODBC driver.
Oracle is now installed separately from the IMPAX AS3000 software.
Solaris patches are now installed separately from the IMPAX AS3000 software.
Important platform updates
SQL Server 2000 is no longer supported.
Oracle 10g Client is supported for AS300 servers.
Java 1.6 supported for the IMPAX Administration Tools.
Windows Vista support (including 64-bit) for IMPAX Client (including diagnostic workstations).
Standalone stations are now supported only on Windows XP.
Existing IMPAX AS3000 installations on Solaris 9 must upgrade to Solaris 10.
