Displaying studies across monitors

While the screen format setting defines how many studies are displayed at once on one monitor, the study view mode defines how many monitors the studies are displayed on. Study view mode does not apply to single-monitor configurations, nor to standard monitors configured as extended monitors for the Image area.

To set the default study view mode for each modality (and, optionally, body part), use the Screen Layout tab of the Customize dialog. To change study view mode for the current study, set the Study View Mode tool to one of these three states:

Button Name Effect
Span One Screen Span One Monitor Displays different studies on each monitor.
Span Two Screens Span Two Monitors Displays the same studies across two monitors. If four monitors are available, the next two monitors both display the subsequent patient studies.
Span All Screens Span All Monitors Displays the same studies across four monitors. This option is unavailable if fewer than four monitors are configured.

To change the current study view mode from span one monitor

  1. From the Image area top toolbar, click Span One Monitor. Span One Screen

The button changes to Span Two Screens. The studies displayed on the first monitor are repeated on the second. The third and fourth monitors (if any) both display the next studies for the patient.

  2. To change to Span All Screens, click Span Two Monitors. Span Two Screens

If four monitors are available, the button changes to Span All Screens and the same studies are displayed on all monitors. Otherwise, the button changes to Span One Screen and each monitor displays different studies.

  3. To change study view mode again on a four-monitor system, click Span All Monitors. Span All Screens

The button changes to Span One Screen and each monitor displays different studies.

Tip

Tip:

When in span two monitors or span all monitors state, study arrangement changes (such as pinning or change of series view mode) applied to one monitor also appear on the other monitors displaying the same studies.
