Defining a default tool based on modality

When authenticating with a smart card, impersonation is not available.

You can define a tool to be activated by default when first viewing and when redisplaying study images from a particular modality.

To define a default tool based on modality

  1. If setting preferences for other users, impersonate the user or role.

  2. Press F12 or, from the Image area top toolbar, click Customize.

  3. In the Customize dialog, switch to the Modality Preferences tab.

  4. From the Modality list, select the modality to customize.

  5. From the Body Part list (if available), select the body part to customize.

To use the same default tool for all body parts, select DEFAULT as the Body Part.

  6. From the Default Tool list, select the tool to be activated by default when first viewing study images from that modality. Options are:

    Option Description
No Tool No tool is activated by default
Window Level Changes image brightness and contrast by adjusting window center and window width values and gives access to preset window level values
Zoom Magnifies or reduces images in increments
Magnify Rectangle Zooms in on a specific area of an image
Markup Caliper Measures the distance between two points
Cine Viewer Plays series images in a continuous loop or frame by frame
Template Opens images into the Orthopaedic Application window
  7. Click Apply.

  8. To define default tools for other modalities, repeat steps 4–7. For other body parts, repeat steps 5–7.

  9. To save the changes and close the Customize dialog, click OK.

If currently displaying an image from a modified modality, the new default tool is activated.
