Preparing images for interpretation

After performing a study at a modality, you may have to adjust certain image attributes before transmitting the study to other stations. Many IMPAX tools are available to adjust image display; the most common ones are described below.

Tip

Tip:

You can set the scope of any of these tools to one image, all images in one series, or all images in the study.

Image orientation is incorrect

To rotate or flip study images, use the appropriate Geometry tool: Rotate 180, Rotate Right, Rotate Left, Flip Vertical, or Flip Horizontal.

Image is too light or too dark

To change the brightness and contrast of study images, use the Window Level tool. To reverse image polarity, use the Invert tool.

Image is too large or too small

To adjust the display size of the image, use the Zoom tool.

Image contains an incorrect label or demographics

To change the text in an image, use the Markup Annotation tool.

Image contains incorrect markers or demographics

To correct image calibration, measurements, highlighted areas with arrows, use the Image area Markup tools.

Note:

Note:

Burned in demographics can be X'ed out but turning off demographics removes the markup and annotations, leaving the original burned in demographics visible.

After making any of these changes, save the study.
