The Compressor queue can be defined on a per-station basis, causing all studies coming from that station to be compressed with the selected queue. These lossy images are then stored in the station’s cache. The diagnostic-quality lossless image can be retrieved from the archive, if required.
For optimal compression performance, consider where Compressors are enabled on the cluster and where specific studies (by station) should be compressed. More information is available in Understanding Compressor.
![]() | Note: If Compressor runs after presentation states have been created in the IMPAX Client, none of the applied presentation states are displayed on the compressed images. Therefore, avoid using Compressor on images that require presentation states. For more presentation state information, refer to “Publishing softcopy presentation states” (topic number 8555) in the IMPAX 6.5.1 Client Knowledge Base: Extended. |
To enable compression of images sent from a station
On the Setup tab, click Source Manager.![]()
Switch to the Compressor tab.
From the list of stations at the bottom of the manager, select a station.
To perform compression on images from the station, beside Enable lossy compression, select the Yes option.
From the Compressor list, select the host name of the station that should run the compression—the one Compressor is running on.
Only the selected station does the compression, not all listed stations.
Click Save. ![]()
A checkmark appears in the Compression column for the selected station.
After a station is configured, configure the Q Factor for the modality or station. Instructions on configuring the Q Factor are provided in Defining compression settings for stations or modalities.
