When cycling worklists, studies can be opened in the Image area in the order they appear in the worklist or the oldest undictated studies can be opened first. Generally, the oldest undictated setting is appropriate for radiologists and residents with dictation permissions, but not for other users.
When the oldest undictated setting is enabled and the strict worklist setting is disabled, the oldest undictated study can appear on any monitor. Consider the following scenarios for a three monitor system (left monitor is for the List and Text areas and the middle and right monitors are for the Image area):
One new study is opened—the study is displayed on the left monitor for the Image area.
Two new studies are opened—the newest study is displayed on the left monitor for the Image area and the oldest undictated study is displayed on the right monitor. The Text area is synchronized with the left monitor.
In this scenario to have the oldest undictated study displayed on the left monitor, you must have the study span across both monitors.
Two new studies and a prior are opened—the oldest undictated study is displayed on the left monitor for the Image area and the prior is displayed on the right monitor. The Text area is synchronized with the left monitor.
When both the oldest undictated and strict worklist settings are enabled, the oldest undictated study appears on the left monitor. Consider the following scenarios for a three monitor system (left monitor is for the List and Text areas and the middle and right monitors are for the Image area):
One new study is opened—the study is displayed on the left monitor for the Image area.
Two new studies are opened—the oldest undictated study appears on the left monitor for the Image area and the right monitor is black as no prior is available. The Text area is synchronized with the left monitor.
Two new studies and a prior are opened (relevance is on)—the oldest undictated study is displayed on the left monitor for the Image area and the prior is displayed on the right monitor. The Text area is synchronized with the left monitor.
If the studies are loaded manually (relevance is off), the prior study is not recognized as a prior. Therefore, the oldest undictated study appears on the left monitor for the Image area and the right monitor is black.
