Dictating a single study

On workstations that include an integrated reporting system, such as the RTAS or Lanier system, you can start a dictation from within IMPAX.

If using TalkStation for reporting, refer to Dictating a single study with integrated TalkStation. If using IMPAX Reporting for reporting, refer to Dictating a study using IMPAX Reporting: Workflow. If using tape dictation, refer to Dictating a report in a non-integrated system.

CAUTION!

Do not use lossy compressed images (wavelet or JPEG) when dictating mammography studies but only for reference purposes. Ensure that the Client is configured to retrieve original images when dictating mammography studies.

To dictate a single study

  1. Display the study in the Image area, normally by cycling a worklist.

    The study must be closed (all images acquired) and have a status of New.

  2. From the top toolbar, click Dictate Study. Dictate Study

    Normally, the integrated reporting application is launched or brought to the foreground. The IMPAX Dictate Study button changes to Dictating state. Dictating

  3. Create the report in the integrated reporting application.

  4. When the report is complete, click Dictate Study. Dictating

    The Dictate Study button changes to Dictated state. Dictated The report is ready to be signed off.

    If configured to do so, IMPAX automatically advances to the next undictated study.

If another user begins dictating the study that you are viewing, a dictation conflict warning appears (if this option is configured). If another user begins dictating a study in your cycle list that you are not currently viewing, it automatically drops off your cycle list.
