Before a new dictation is started, the following conditions must be met:
The IMPAX study status is New.
Installation of the SpeechMagic InterActive and configuration of the embedded reporting integration has been done correctly.
The Audio Wizard has been run on the current workstation with the current SpeechMike.

The study is known in IMPAX RIS.
A QDictate license is available for the user.

To start a new dictation when a study is open
Start a dictation.
Click Dictate study in the Image area.
Click Dictate study in the Reporting tab of the Text area.
Press INS/OVR on the SpeechMike.
In the Reporting options dialog, set the reporting options for the report.
To dictate the study, use the dictation and recording controls in the Text area or the controls on the SpeechMike.
To add predefined text to the report, use the standard text available in the Standard Text catalog. You can access the text by:
Voice commands defined for each standards text
Keyboards shortcut, if defined for the standard text
Double-clicking on the required standard text
To re-use the content from a prior report for the same patient, copy the text from the prior report and paste it into the current report.
To spell out unknown expressions such as names, places, and so on, activate spelling mode.
For digital dictation, to enable overwrite mode, click Erase to end.
In overwrite mode, if you rewind the dictation and start recording, the remaining dictation is automatically erased. If overwrite mode is disabled, the recording is inserted and no content is erased.
To stop the dictation and temporarily save, suspend the dictation.
To set how the report should be processed when finished dictation, click EOL. ![]()
The Finish reporting dialog appears. Accept the defaults or select the appropriate option for finishing the report.
Note the following behavior of Study Lock
and the Dictate study button:
If the Study Lock is on, both the Text area and the Image area are synchronized. Clicking Dictate study in either the Text area or the Image area starts dictation on that study.
If the Study Lock is off, you navigate to another study from the prior list for the same patient without loading it in the Image area, and you click Dictate study in the Image area, the Text area is synchronized automatically.
If the Study Lock is off, you navigate to another study from the prior list for the same patient without loading it in the Image area, and you click Dictate study in the Text area, the study is added to your Study cycle list in the Image area but not automatically displayed.
