IMPAX 6.5.1 Application Server Knowledge Base
The following procedures describe the additional configurations required in a multiple IMPAX cluster environment.

1. Configuring RIS to Connectivity Manager communication
Orders and reports are sent from the RIS to the Connectivity Manager. To ensure proper configuration for enterprise-awareness, complete the following steps:
Add a Multisite RIS device or HL7-RIS device
As of Connectivity Manager 2.2, the Multisite RIS device is renamed to HL7-RIS device.
Adding an IMPAX device to the spoke Connectivity Manager
To set up communication between the IMPAX Service Class Provider (SCP) and Modality Worklist (MWL), add the SCP as an IMPAX DICOM device to the spoke Connectivity Manager.
Configuring the HL7 connection to the hub Connectivity Manager
To set up the HL7 connection between the spoke Connectivity Manager (HL7 Out) and the hub Connectivity Manager (HL7 In), specify the host details of the spoke Connectivity Manager and the hub Connectivity Manager. This connection makes reports available to other spokes and enables HIS verification at the hub.
Configuring Detached Management to IMPAX Service Class Provider (SCP) communication
Detached Management DICOM messages are sent from the Connectivity Manager to the IMPAX SCP. These messages indicate that the IMPAX cluster should update the data when updates occur in the RIS.
Configuring communication between the IMPAX Report Server and the Application Server
To enable secure communication between the IMPAX Report Server and the Application Server, create security certificates.
Import the certificate
For spokes with a non-queryable RIS, reports are sent to the Connectivity Manager, and then passed to the Application Server for storage in the MVF database. To complete the spoke Connectivity Manager configuration, specify the domain name for report querying and specify the Application Server that services the report queries and stores.
2. Configuring the Application Server
If a request for a study does not include the requesting service value, IMPAX uses the default report source. In a single IMPAX cluster installation, specify the spoke report source as the default. For an enterprise system with multiple IMPAX clusters, specify the hub report source as the default report source.
3. Configuring the hub Connectivity Manager
![]() | Note: The configuration on the hub Connectivity Manager is different from a Connectivity Manager in a single IMPAX cluster. In most cases, there is no HIS/RIS or modality setup, only inbound HL7 messages from the various spoke Connectivity Managers and the normal DICOM and Web Services communication with IMPAX. In some enterprise installations, however, there is communication with the local RIS and modalities at the hub Connectivity Manager. It is assumed that the steps necessary to configure the hub Connectivity Manager with IMPAX have already been completed by the Connectivity integrator. |
To enable the hub Connectivity Manager report services to communicate with the spoke Application Server, create security certificates.
Import the certificate
