IMPAX provides the ability to configure and query linked clusters. This topic elaborates on the Server configurations required for cluster linking to be successful.
To configure IMPAX for cluster linking
Configure all Connectivity Managers in the Network Management of the Administration Tools in each cluster.
Associate all local modalities with the home Connectivity Manager in the Source Manager of the Administration Tools. Associate remote modalities with their home Connectivity Manager so that they are properly verified. Studies that should not be stored in other databases are considered Visitors. To set this up, do not select an automatic archiving on the Source Manager - Other tab.
If required, configure HIS stations to receive Study Observed Notifications, preserving and synchronizing Study Instance UIDs from a third-party PACS.
In the Source Manager of the Administration Tools, when defining stations, ensure that the Institution and Department values are consistent and are entered such that stations with the same name in different hospitals can be differentiated.
If the site wants to prefetch and route based on the Body Part and Specialty mappings, make the Body and Specialty mapping tables a superset of the cluster, containing all the codes for the sites.
When you prefetch by specialty, the specialty values must mean the same thing across the linked clusters. Different rules to derive the HEAD specialty from one to the other may exist, but a HEAD study must be the same as a HEAD study at the other cluster.
If required, you can also make the Patient Location mappings a superset.
The hosts file must include all of the Connectivity Managers to be queried along with the cluster systems and external DICOM destinations.
