IMPAX 6.5.1 Server Knowledge Base home > Configuring IMPAX Server with Administration Tools > Source Manager
In a linked cluster configuration, all source stations in the linked cluster must be configured properly in the Administration Tools of each cluster so that studies retrieved from a linked cluster are handled correctly.
Before configuring any stations, make sure that:
Each source station name and AE title is unique within the linked clusters or linked configuration.
Each source station has the correct institution name and department name.
The DEFAULT station does not contain any settings specific to only the local site.
To correctly configure each source in all linked clusters, start in one cluster and configure each source in the Source Manager. After you have finished configuring the Source Manager in the first cluster for all the stations at the other sites, repeat the process in the Source Manager for all the other clusters. The following procedure uses two example clusters, cluster1 and cluster2.
![]() | Tip: To quickly identify the institution the modality is located in, use an identifying character in the AE title and station name. For example, if you had North Hospital and South Hospital, you may have the entry KODKN01, where the N identifies the institution as North Hospital. |
To create entries for acquisition stations in linked clusters
Launch the Administration Tools in cluster1.
On the Setup tab, click Source Manager.
Check that no institution name is mapped in the DEFAULT station.
Launch the Administration Tools in cluster2.
On the Daily tab, click Study Manager.
For each modality in cluster2, including mixed modalities, transmit a study to cluster1.
These studies autopopulate the Source Manager in cluster1 based on the DEFAULT station settings. They can be identified by the institution name, InstitutionName2.
In the cluster1 Administration Tools Source Manager, for each source under InstitutionName2, configure the following:
From the list at the bottom of the manager, select the source.
Switch to the HIS Verification tab.
For the Perform HIS verification option, select Yes.
From the AE title for HIS station to verify against list, select the RIS Gateway for that source in cluster2.
Under VERIFICATION_OPTIONS, under Study Identification, select Use accession number when present, otherwise use study date.
Under Patient Identification, select Use Patient ID.
Switch to the Other tab.
From the Demographic Layout list, select the appropriate demographic layout.
From the Routing Preset list, select NONE.
Clear the Automatically Archive Incoming Images checkbox
After all station names have been set up correctly, delete the test images transmitted to the stations and delete any incorrect station names.
Repeat the procedure, only this time transmit studies from cluster1 to cluster2, then configure the acquisition stations in cluster 2.
![]() | CAUTION! Monitor the Source Manager at each site for new stations and to make sure that the appropriate settings are applied. |
