Studies may be copied from one IMPAX cluster to another through C-MOVE or routing. When information in one IMPAX cluster is updated, that information must be communicated to the other linked clusters to ensure that all information is synchronized.
Cluster updates are passed as a job to the SCU, and the SCU uses a DICOM private SOP class with C-STORE. The linked cluster SCP handles the C-STORE, recognizes the private SOP class, and proceeds to update the cluster. Cluster update linking handles study, series, and object-level changes.
To configure stations for synchronization of updates across linked clusters
On the Setup tab, click Network Management.
Switch to the Configuration tab.
From the list at the bottom of the tab, select the station to configure.
Select the Cluster Linking checkbox.
Select the Link Cluster Updates checkbox.
Click Save.
Perform an IIS reset on the Application Server.
Linked cluster updates at the object level (triggered by markup, annotations, and similar) contain all series and objects associated with that study; a remote cluster then issues a C-MOVE request to obtain any missing objects, including:
GSPS objects
Summary Studies
New objects received for closed studies
Image data saved from specialized integrated clinical applications such as the Orthopaedic Application and Voxar
When configured, the following data is synchronized across clusters:
Status changes to patient and study demographic data coming from the HIS or RIS
State changes such as patient location and study status
IMPAX Presentation states
The following data is not synchronized:
Key image notes
Structural changes to a study resulting from functions such as split, segment, merge, and delete
The following do not trigger a linked cluster update but are included in any linked updates that subsequently occur:
Data changes that do not result in a status change, such as HIS verification or fixup
Certain patient and study level changes (such as Patient ID, Patient Name, and Accession Number)
Required permissions
