Configuring IMPAX for orthopaedic surgeons

IMPAX for Orthopaedics is a software application intended for use by, or on the order of, an Orthopaedic Surgeon to review medical images, plan orthopaedic surgeries, and evaluate their results.

When configuring the IMPAX Client for orthopaedics, the following tasks are often required.

1. Create an orthopaedics role

Creating a role simplifies the task of providing all Orthopaedic users with the features they need. As a shortcut, use the Orthopaedic Surgeon sub-role under Surgery in the default role hierarchy shipped with IMPAX. This role has default permissions and preferences that make configuration faster.

2. Add users to the orthopaedics role

Orthopaedic surgeons should have this as their primary role, while radiologists who occasionally require the orthopaedic tools can have this as their secondary role.

4. Modify the permissions for the orthopaedics role

The set of default roles in IMPAX also has default permissions appropriate to those roles. You can create different permissions, if required, for your specific workflows. Or, you can edit the permissions shipped with IMPAX. Refer to Permissions: Workflow applications.

5. Add common orthopaedics tools to the customizable area of the top toolbar or to the context toolbar

In particular, the Template and the Image Information tools should be made easily available.

6. Configure the monitor to display the orthopaedic tools and images

The orthopaedic tools and images can appear on a color monitor. You can group the stations used for Orthopaedics under one station container in the Configure area - Stations section, then configure them all at once.
