Creating permissions

Permissions control access to the functionality in the system. Permissions are role-based, meaning that you set permissions for groups of users. For example, when you define a set of permissions for the Clinicians role, all clinicians belonging to that role automatically inherit those permissions.

You can create two types of permissions:

To create permissions

  1. From the Configure drawer menu Configure drawer menu, select Users and Roles.

  2. In the navigation pane, select the role to create the permission for.

All of the roles and users beneath that role inherit the permission.

  3. In the details pane, expand the Permissions bar.

  4. Depending on the type of permission to create, switch to the General or Study-Based tab.

  5. In the For permission list, right-click and select New.

  6. Type a name for the permission.

All permissions in IMPAX must have a unique name, even when in different roles.

  7. Select the operations that are allowed with this permission.

  8. For study-based permissions, create the study access rules for the permission.

The permission is created. The changes are saved automatically when you switch context.

Note:

Note:

You must have at least one study-based permission for each role (inherited or not), which defines the set of studies the users in the role can access. Otherwise users will not have access to any studies.
