Window level presets are predefined window level values. Your system may be configured to automatically apply presets, but you can override this default. For example, if your site has two CT modalities that each interpret data differently, the default preset may be applied to the most commonly viewed images, and you can apply a different preset when working with the less commonly viewed images.

The Auto window level preset is calculated using a histogram of pixel values:
The window center is set to a modified average of pixel values in the image.
The window width is set to a modified range of pixel values in the image. Note that it is not a simple average and range calculation. IMPAX eliminates some of the outlying values at each end of the histogram and applies the rescaled scope and intersect for the window width.
To window level by preset values
From the Image area top toolbar, right-click the Window
Level button menu and select
the preset value to apply.

If displaying images from one series only, the preset window level value is applied to all images in the series.
If using a screen format that displays more than one series or study, click an image from the series to apply the preset to.
The preset is applied to all images in that series.
