Defining default scope for window level, magnify, and cine

When authenticating with a smart card, impersonation is not available.

Scope refers to whether a tool action is applied to a single image, to all images in a series, or to all images in a study. Use the Screen Layout tab of the Customize dialog to define the default scope for the window level, magnification, and cine tools. (For other tools, image scope is used by default.)

To define default scope for window level, magnify, and cine

  1. If setting preferences for other users, impersonate the user or role.

  2. Press F12 or, from the Image area top toolbar, click Customize.

  3. In the Customize dialog, switch to the Screen Layout tab.

  4. If necessary, change the Modality and Body Part (if available).

  5. Under Window Level Default Scope, to apply window leveling to all images in the series by default, select Series; to apply it to a single image by default, select Image.

  6. Under Magnify Default Scope, to apply magnification to all images in the series by default, select Series; to apply it to a single image by default, select Image.

  7. Under Cine Default Scope, to cine only one series by default, select Series; to cine all series in the study by default, select Study.

  8. Click Apply.

  9. To define default scope for other modalities and body parts, repeat steps 4–8.

Or, to copy screen layout options from one modality to another, use the Copy and Paste buttons. Note that the other screen layout options on the tab also get copied and pasted, not just the Scope settings.

  10. To save the changes and close the Customize dialog, click OK.

The default scope is used every time you activate the tool, even if you override the default earlier in the same session. For example, if you override the default scope of series when window leveling, use another tool, then activate the Window Level tool again, the default scope of series is used rather than the scope you had selected previously.
