Applying nuclear medicine palettes

Use the Nuclear Medicine Palette tool to highlight certain features of a grayscale NM study by applying different color palettes to it. The tool is most effective when studies are displayed on a color monitor. You can use the Project on Extended Monitor tool to view individual studies on a color monitor as needed.

While designed for NM studies, you can colorize any type of study with this tool.

To apply nuclear medicine palettes

  1. Display a study in the Image area, ideally on a color monitor.

  2. If required, change the scope of the color palette to image, series, or study.

  3. From the context or top toolbar, click Nuclear Medicine Palette. Nuclear Medicine Palette

    or

    If using the context toolbar text menu (Ctrl + right-click), select Window LevelNuclear Medicine Palette.

    A menu of color palette options, such as Grayscale, Inverse, 16 Color, Rainbow, and White Thermal, is displayed.

  4. From the menu, select the palette to apply.

  5. Click a grayscale image to apply the palette to.

    Based on the scope setting, the palette is applied to the single image, all grayscale images in the series, or all grayscale images in the study. Color images are not affected by the palettes. You can save the study with the palette applied.

To remove an applied palette, use Undo or the NM Palette Reset tool. To apply a different color palette, repeat steps 2–5.
