IMPAX 6.5.1 Client Knowledge Base: Extended > Finding studies
Sometimes studies are not immediately available in the PACS. For example, some must be retrieved from offline storage, from an HSM (hierarchical storage management) system, or from another PACS, and some images must be converted to a web image before being viewed. In these situations, you must retrieve the image before you can open it.
To retrieve studies from other locations
In a worklist, search results, or Study List, note the symbol in the first column.
Normally, the columns displays the Open
images button.
If
the study must be retrieved, one of the retrieve
symbols is displayed instead.
Select the study or studies to be retrieved.
Right-click the studies and select Retrieve.
If some selected studies do not have to be retrieved, the Retrieve option does not appear.
When retrieving, the retrieve symbol changes to an
in-progress symbol; for example,
changes
to
.
Once the study is retrieved, the icon changes to the Open images button.
You can now open the images or cycle the worklist.
In the Image area, if images are being retrieved for a patient, the in-progress symbol (highlighted in the image below) appears on the patient tab on the bottom navigation bar, or next to the patient name in the cycle control. Once the images for the patient have been retrieved, the symbol disappears, indicating that you can now proceed with the study.
