The long-term storage phase transfers the study to archive media.

16. The least recently used studies are automatically deleted from every IMPAX cache to make room for new studies.
The length of time the study stays in a cache depends on the size of the cache and, for the IMPAX Archive cache, it also depends on the staging rules applied to the cache. Autopilot is the tool that manages the timing for archiving and deleting studies. Autopilot is installed with all Curators.
17. The study is transferred to archive media for long-term storage.
![]() | Note: Changes in study status can trigger additional routing. For example, a routing rule could specify that after a report is approved, it is automatically routed to a specific cache station. When the Network Gateway receives the report approval from the Connectivity Manager, it transmits another copy of the study to the specified station. |
