Network Gateway workflow: 1. Pre-acquisition

1. Pre-acquisition > 2. Image acquisition > 3. Routing > 4. Reporting > 5. Long-term storage

The pre-acquisition phase begins when the physician determines that an exam is required to diagnose the patient and ends when prior studies are archived.

RIS to RIS Gateway to Network Gateway to Archive Server to Display Station flow

1. The exam is ordered and entered into the RIS.

2. The RIS transmits the order to the Connectivity Manager. The Connectivity Manager stores the order in its database.

3. By default, 12 hours before the scheduled exam time, the Connectivity Manager transmits a Study Scheduled event to the Network Gateway.

4. The Network Gateway checks if any relevant studies for the same patient match the configured relevant prior criteria. Any studies that meet the criteria are retrieved from the IMPAX Archive.

5. The Network Gateway sends the most recent prior studies to the image or web cache using the routing rules for the scheduled exam, from which they can be viewed on a Client station.
