IMPAX 6.5.1 Server Knowledge Base home > Maintaining IMPAX Server: Managing studies
This topic applies only to IMPAX clusters configured to archive to IMPAX Data Center.
When fixup tools are used to associate a new worklist entry with a study stored to IMPAX—possibly because the technologist used the incorrect worklist entry in the first place—study instance UID changes may occur. If archiving to IMPAX Data Center 3.0 or later, such updates are handled via cc objects. But if archiving to earlier versions of IMPAX Data Center, when the study instance UID changes, you must perform the following manual procedure to correctly synchronize the spoke IMPAX data with IMPAX Data Center.
This procedure applies only to studies where the study UID is being changed. Other DICOM attribute updates are handled as expected.
![]() | CAUTION! This procedure involves deleting the copy of the study stored at IMPAX Data Center. Therefore, only the spoke has a local cache study copy. To avoid data loss, all “Spoke PACS Administrator” steps must be performed without delay. |
To synchronize data for fixed studies with study UID changes
Spoke PACS Administrator: At the spoke, ensure that a local cache copy of study exists.
Spoke PACS Administrator: Inform the Data Center system administrator which studies are going to be fixed and give formal authorization to the Data Center system administrator to delete these studies.
Data Center System Administrator: Delete the archived study completely using the Administration Tools.
Data Center System Administrator: If using an active-active configuration, also delete the study completely from the second data center.
With active-active configuration, object deletion at the first data center is not automatically replicated at the second.
Spoke PACS Administrator: At the spoke, fix up the study.
Spoke PACS Administrator: Retransmit the study to the data center.
