IMPAX 6.5.1 Client Knowledge Base: Extended > Administering IMPAX > Managing roles and users > Defining permissions > Configuring study access rules
The second portion of a study-based permission is the study access rule. This rule defines which studies the permission actually applies to. For example, does the permission apply only to unverified studies? Or, does the rule apply to studies from a specific location? For more about how to optimize study access rules, refer to Example: Defining and linking permissions and study access rules.
To define a new study access rule
Create a study-based permission or edit an existing study-based permission.
In the With access to studies from list, right-click and select New.
In the Study Access Rule dialog, type a Name for the rule.
From the Include only studies that match list, select the criteria for the study access rule.
Type a Description of the rule.
We recommend specifically describing each rule.
If required, select the Include Unverified Studies checkbox.
![]() | CAUTION! Agfa recommends against configuring certain permissions (Dictate as Radiologist or as Resident, Export, Print, and Transmit) for study access rules that include Unverified studies. Unverified studies cannot be reconciled against the RIS for accuracy, so the patient identifiers, study identifiers, or other pertinent details such as patient demographics (name, age, sex, and so on) and relevant priors may be incorrect. When the Unverified study is matched with an order on the RIS, all the information in the IMPAX mvf database is updated and the update is not extend to the report (which could be permanently lost if the patient and study identifiers are changed) or to remote clusters or institutions that received the study prior to the HIS/RIS verification. |
When selected, the rule applies to unverified studies that meet the rest of the criteria for the rule, as well as any verified and never verified studies.
Click OK.
The study access rule appears. Rules that
include unverified studies are marked with
.
Rules that include Confidentiality Codes such as VIP studies are marked with
(indicating that this permission is an emergency access permission). When studies are in the bucket defined by this permission, the lock icon appears on the Search, Advanced Search, and Worklist bars to indicate that restricted studies are available but not shown. Users can then choose to view the restricted studies by clicking on the lock. The changes are saved
automatically when you switch context.
![]() | Note: You must have at least one study-based permission for each role (inherited or not) that defines the set of studies the users in the role can access. If you do not, users will not have access to any studies. |
