IMPAX 6.5.1 Client Knowledge Base: Extended > Administering IMPAX > Managing roles and users > Defining permissions > Configuring study access rules
You can copy study access rules as linked copies when doing so from a permission in one role to any other permission in the hierarchy. For example, you can copy a study access rule from a permission in the Radiology role to a permission in the Cardiology role as a linked copy. Changing either the original study access rule, or any linked copies of the rule, changes all other linked copies. To read more about optimizing the use of linking, refer to Example: Defining and linking permissions and study access rules.
To copy a study access rule
Edit an existing study-based permission.
In the With access to studies from list, right-click a study access rule and select Copy.
In the navigation pane, select a role.
In the details pane, from the For permissions list, select the permission to copy the rule to.
In the With access to studies from list, right-click and select Paste Link.
The study access rule is now copied as a link. The changes are saved automatically when you switch context
![]() | Tip: You can also copy and paste a study access rule within a permission, which creates a true copy of the rule instead of a linked copy. |
