IMPAX 6.5.1 Client Knowledge Base: Extended > Reading studies > Interpreting breast images
IMPAX automatically displays mammography studies in the configured Comparative Review Mode:
If the modality type equals MG
If the body part equals BREAST
If a Comparative Review Mode is configured
If an image is present that matches the Comparative Review Mode view
One CC or MLO image must be present for a Current Only or Prior Only view to be enabled. One current and one prior CC or MLO image must be present for a Current/Prior Compare view to be enabled.
You can then step through the rest of the modes in a comparative review sequence or select a specific mode from the sequence. These modes are designed for optimal reviewing of breast images. All older studies are considered relevant priors, and current and priors are identified by timestamps. The most recent study is identified by having the most current acquisition date and time.
![]() | Note: Selecting a specific Comparative Review Mode does not break you out of the sequence loop. For example, if you are on mode 2, jump specifically to mode 7, and then click Next Comparative Review Mode, you are taken to mode 3. |
To select a specific comparative review mode
From the Image area top toolbar, click Comparative
Review Sequence. ![]()
From the menu, select the Comparative Review Mode to apply.
The mammography study is displayed in the selected mode. If a mode is unavailable (because, for example, a prior study is unavailable), the related button is disabled.
![]() | Tip: Keyboard shortcuts and Image area wizards cannot be set for modes that are not in the current sequence. Setting Apply Comparative Review Mode as an Action in a keyboard shortcut or Display wizard requires that the view be configured in the user’s sequence of views. |
