Issue
In the Configure area - Users and Roles section, you notice that two copies of a user or role exist.
Details
If you have the Configure area open for an extended time, other administrators may have made changes to the role hierarchy. Therefore, you could be working on an outdated copy of the hierarchy. When trying to complete the following actions on roles or users that have been moved by another administrator, you can have two copies of a role or user, in different locations:
Adding or deleting a user mapping to a user that has already been moved. This creates another copy of the user in the currently selected role and makes this the primary role for the user. The user also exists in the other location but now that role is its secondary role. The mapping change is saved with the re-created user.
Adding or deleting a role mapping for a role that has already been moved. This creates a role of the same name in the current location, as well as still retaining the role in the moved location. The mapping change is saved with the re-created role.
Moving a license up or down, or removing a license, for a role that has already been moved. This creates a role of the same name in the current location, as well as still retaining the role in the moved location. The license change is saved with the re-created role.
Adding a permission to a role that has already been moved. This creates a role of the same name in the current location, as well as still retaining the role in the moved location. The permission change is saved with the re-created role.
Solution
To ensure you are working on an up-to-date copy, refresh the hierarchy.
To refresh the role hierarchy
From the Configure drawer menu
, select Users
and Roles.
In the navigation pane, right-click and select Refresh.
The hierarchy of roles and users is refreshed. (To refresh permissions, log out of IMPAX and then log back in.)
Decide whether both copies of the role or user are required.
