Compressing images sent to stations

To compress images being sent to stations, use Network Management. Compression may be useful to reduce the size of the image if the station is connected over a slow connection, or to reduce the size of images from certain modalities.

These settings apply to image cache compression. To set compression for the web cache, use Web Compression Manager.

Lossy compression reduces image quality slightly; for non-diagnostic purposes, the loss is minimal.

CAUTION!

CAUTION!

We recommend that you do not set lossy compression for diagnosis, particularly of mammography studies.
