Specialty mapping lets you define the mapping between study descriptions or procedure codes and specialty identifiers. Once specialty mappings are defined, it becomes possible to route, prefetch, or search for studies based on these specializations.

To create or modify a specialty mapping
On the Setup tab, click Specialty Manager. ![]()
To create a new specialty mapping, click New. ![]()

To modify a specialty mapping, from the list of mappings, select the one to edit.
To create a mapping, in the Source Pattern field, type the text or text fragment found in the study description. The source pattern is case-sensitive and can include one or more % characters as wildcards.
You cannot modify the source pattern of existing specialty mappings.
To handle cases where study descriptions could match more than one source pattern, in the Rule Number field, type a value to prioritize this source pattern.
From the Specialty list, select the text identifier to be assigned to studies whose descriptions match the source pattern.
If necessary, add a specialty identifier to the list.
To apply this mapping to all subsequent studies, click Save. ![]()
To apply the mapping to existing studies, click Update. ![]()
Applying mappings to existing studies may take a long time to complete.
