When the system receives an image, it analyzes information or fields in the study header to perform operations on the study—such as flipping images to a preferred orientation. This is referred to as field mapping, because it associates mapping study attributes (fields) with a particular expression.
Defaults are provided to perform various field mapping functions. When necessary to accommodate the syntax used by a particular modality or RIS, you can create customized field mappings, then modify these as required. You can also modify the default mappings.
