Use the Image Access Manager to modify the relative priorities between source and destination stations. The priority value affects both push (such as Server DICOM send) and pull (such as Client ASPFTP fetch) transactions. When done properly, this configuration results in better performance at the destination and a more even load balance across the system.
In server-to-server DICOM transfers, the job is always created on the local MVF_SCU queue, if one exists. If not, then the priorities from the Image Access Manager are taken into account.
The system defaults for image distribution initially populate the list. In cases such as those described in Examples of reasons to adjust image distribution priorities, modify this list.
To modify the image distribution responsibilities for a source station
On the Setup tab, click Image Access Manager.
In the Source / Destination / Priority table, click the Destination column heading to sort the data by destination.
The default priority display is by source—where the images are coming from. However, in most cases, it is more logical to prioritize based on the destination; that is, to select the source based on its proximity to the destination.
For any given destination, determine whether any of the source priorities need to change.
Note:
The higher the number, the greater the priority. More than one source can be set with the same priority value.
From the Source / Disabled table, select the source to modify.
From the Source / Destination / Priority table, select the destination whose source priorities needs to change.
Tip:
If the Source and Destination combination does not exist in the list, you may need to create an entry or restart the Administration Tools.
In the Priority field, type the new priority value.
Click Save.
