IMPAX 6.5.1 Server Knowledge Base home > Configuring IMPAX Server with Administration Tools > Source Manager > Customizing layouts for printing and displaying demographic information
You can create DICOM fields to add to custom demographic layouts. One item that can be useful to add to demographic layouts in this way is patient GPI (global patient index). This helps radiologists ensure that they are reading the studies for the right patient.
To configure a DICOM custom field to support GPI in demographic layouts
On the Setup tab, click Source Manager.![]()
Switch to the Other tab.
Click Demographic Layout Manager. ![]()
In the Manager Dialog, on the bottom right toolbar, click New DICOM field.
![]()
In the New DICOM Field dialog, type an appropriate Name for this field (such as GPI).
From the Modality list, select what modality to use this field in.
As the DICOM Group, type 0031.
As the DICOM Element, type 0020.
As the Private Creator ID Code, type MITRA LINKED ATTRIBUTES 1.0.
From the DICOM VR list, select LO: Long String (long string).
If Prefix, Suffix, Delimiter, or Offset values are needed, type these in the appropriate fields.
More information on these options is available in Custom DICOM field settings.
Click Save. ![]()
The GPI attribute can now be added to demographic layouts for this modality, as required.
