IMPAX 6.5.1 Client Knowledge Base: Extended > Administering IMPAX > Configuring stations
A station is any computer that has the IMPAX Client installed. Stations can be in a radiology reading room, in the offices of clinicians, in emergency departments, or in the homes of radiologists, for example.
When a user logs into IMPAX for the first time, that station is listed in the navigation pane of the Configure area - Stations section. You then organize the stations into station containers. You can configure settings for a station container, such as monitor and Business Services access settings, which are then inherited by all stations in that station container.
To configure stations
Determine how stations should be organized into containers and station containers.
For example, all stations used for general radiology can be placed in a Radiology station container.
Create station containers and move the stations into them.
Define how the stations access the Business Services on the Application Server.
Create storage groups for image storage points that you can access through a load balancer.
Define how much memory IMPAX leaves for the rest of the system.
Configure the monitors for the stations.
The changes are saved automatically when you switch context.
