Audit Manager helps sites manage security requirements surrounding access to electronic patient health information. The program is a central repository for audit log data. If your site has installed Audit Manager, you must assign users to specific roles, then set permissions for those roles so they can perform activities in Audit Manager. Without these permissions, users cannot log into Audit Manager.
Generally, healthcare sites have two positions for ensuring the integrity and safety of electronic patient information:
The Security Officer creates and views reports on audited activities using Audit Manager.
The System Administrator manages the configuration and maintenance of Audit Manager, as well as creates and views reports.
Audit Manager must be configured to use IMPAX authentication services. For configuration details, refer to the Audit Manager Installation and Configuration Guide. For more information about running Audit Manager, refer to the Audit Manager Knowledge Base.
To assign Audit Manager users and permissions
From the Configure drawer menu
, select Users and Roles.
In the default role hierarchy, create the appropriate user in the System Administrator and Security Officer roles.
or
Create your own System Administrator and Security Officer roles, then add users to them.
If you are connected to an enterprise LDAP system, map the users from that system to the users you created.
Create a general permission for the System Administrator role.
Assign the correct operation to the permission. From the Audit Manager list, select the System Administration operation.
Create a general permission for the Security Officer role.
Assign the correct operation to the permission. From the Audit Manager list, select the Security Officer operation.
The changes are saved automatically when you switch context. Now the users you have created can log into the Audit Manager and perform their required activities.
