Creating an image wizard by recording actions

When authenticating with a smart card, impersonation is not available.

To automate a complex series of Image area tasks that are frequently performed, create an image wizard. Wizards are a saved set of Image area actions. (In many other applications, the equivalent of an image wizard is called a macro.) While you can fully define image wizards in a dialog, it is often easier to perform and record the set of wizard actions to save.

To record actions for an image wizard

  1. Carefully plan the set of steps to record.

  2. If setting preferences for other users, impersonate the user or role.

  3. From the Image area context or top toolbar, click Record New Wizard. Record New Wizard

    or

If using the context toolbar text menu (Ctrl + right-click), select WizardsRecord New Wizard.

A Record New Wizard floating palette opens.

  4. Perform the planned set of steps in the appropriate order.

  5. To correct any errors made while recording:

    1. From the first list in the Record New Wizard palette, select the number of the action to correct.

    2. Change any of the recorded values or click Delete to remove that action.

  6. When the image wizard actions are fully defined, click Finish.

The Record New Wizard palette closes and the Add New Wizard dialog opens.

To define and save the new wizard

  1. In the Add New Wizard dialog, type a Name for this wizard.

While this is not enforced, we recommend that you type a unique name, not used by any other image wizard.

  2. Optionally, type a Description of the image wizard.

The description is used as the tooltip for wizard tool buttons.

  3. From the Trigger list, select one of the following options:

    • Toolbar = Click tool button to activate and apply the wizard

    • Patient Viewed = Apply when viewing patient studies of a particular modality and body part

    • First Time Study Viewed = Apply on initial display of studies from a particular modality and body part

    • Study Viewed = Apply on every display of studies from a particular modality and body part

    • Jog Shuttle F1Jog Shuttle F4 = Apply with a jog shuttle

  4. If using a trigger other than Toolbar or Jog Shuttle, select the Modality and Body Part to apply this wizard to.

  5. Optionally, if using a Toolbar trigger, in the Load Bitmap from File System field under Icon Options, type or browse for a 22x22 BMP-format graphic to use as the wizard button.

The file used is loaded from the file system of the local computer. Therefore, it will not be available on other workstations, unless the other workstations also have the same file saved in the same file location. When the file cannot be found, or if no file is selected, a default bitmap displaying the wizard name is used instead.

  6. Under Wizard Behavior, from the Default list, set whether this wizard should be Enabled or Disabled by default.

  7. To allow users to override this default setting, select the Let User Override Default checkbox.

  8. Click Save.

The Add New Wizard dialog closes.

The final procedure is required only for toolbar-triggered image wizards.

To make a new toolbar-triggered wizard available for selection

    1. In the Customize dialog, switch to the Toolbar tab.

    2. On the Toolbar tab, switch to the Wizards tab.

    3. Drag the new wizard button to the top or context toolbar.

  2. Or, define a keyboard shortcut for it:
