Sometimes the same physical patient can appear as different patient records in your worklists, or you may have a patient that brings studies on CD or DVD that must be linked to their studies in the PACS. By linking these patient records as one patient, you can view all of the studies and priors for that patient together.
You can create up to eight distinct patients that are linked. Each patient can have an unlimited number of studies. The links you create are temporary, and apply only until you log out or unlink the patients.

To link studies from different patients
In Advanced Search, or in Search, find the patients to link. Ensure that you clear the New Search checkbox.

Expand the worklist that contains the patients to link.
Select the patient studies to link.
In the Advanced Search, Search, or worklist bar, click the menu.
Select Link Patients.
For each patient link, a number (from 1 to 10) with a different background color appears in the Link column, to a maximum of ten sets of linked patients.
To link studies from a CD or DVD to studies in IMPAX
In the Advanced Search, search the CD or DVD for all the patient's studies.
In the Advanced Search, search for the patients to link. Ensure that you clear the New Search checkbox.
Now, the search results from the first and second search are listed together.
Select the patient studies to link.
In the Advanced Search bar, click the menu.
Select Link Patients.
To detach linked patients
Select the studies to detach links from.
Click the menu.
Select Detach Patient Links.
The number and background color in the Link column disappear for each study you detach.
