Selecting default color and grayscale printers for a user

You can set one color and one grayscale printer as the defaults for particular users. If a specific printer is not selected for a user, the system default printer is used by default.

Tip:

You must add printers to the system before you can set any as the default printer.

To select default color and grayscale printers for a user

  1. From the Configure drawer menu Configure drawer menu, select Preferences.

    or

    Or, from the List or Configure area bar, click the User ID menu Configure drawer menu and select Preferences.

  2. If in the Configure area, in the navigation pane, select a user.

    You can define default printers only for users and for top-level roles.

  3. In the details pane, expand the Image Area bar.

  4. Switch to the Printer Preferences tab.

  5. Under User Default Grayscale Printer, to use a grayscale printer other than the system default, click Specify and select the printer from the list.

  6. Under User Default Color Printer, to use a color printer other than the system default, click Specify and select the printer from the list.

    The selected printers are assigned as defaults for that user.

  7. If in the Configure area, the changes are saved automatically when you switch context.

    If in the Preferences dialog, click OK.
