IMPAX 6.5.1 Client Knowledge Base: Extended > Administering IMPAX > Configuring dictation
Choosing a reporting solution depends on four factors:
Installation—To use TalkStation, the TalkStation Client must be installed on the local workstation. To use IMPAX Reporting, the IMPAX RIS Client must be installed on the local workstation. To use serial dictation, the Lanier or RTAS handset must be connected.
Licensing—TalkStation and IMPAX Reporting are licensed components. Only licensed users can use these features.
Permissions—Only users assigned the dictation or trainee dictation permission can use reporting solutions.
Preferences—Some users prefer to use analog dictation systems, even if reporting software such as TalkStation or IMPAX Reporting is available.
Consider each of these factors when selecting a reporting solution for a user or role.
To select a reporting solution
From the Configure drawer menu
, select Preferences.
In the navigation pane, select the user or role to configure.
In the details pane, expand the Text Area bar.
On the Reporting tab, select one of the following:
Analog—Select if using the Context Server desktop to integrate IMPAX with other reporting systems.
TalkStation—Select if using the TalkStation dictation solution.
IMPAX RIS—Select if using the IMPAX Reporting dictation solution or as the editing and sign-off mechanism for reports created by third-party systems.
Serial Dictation System—Select to use serial dictation using third-party applications such as Lanier or RTAS.
The changes are saved automatically when you switch context.
