The Compressor Scheduler process schedules the lossy compression of studies in the cluster. The Compressor job is created on a specific Compressor queue, which is configured on a per-station basis.
To enable lossy compression by configuring Compressor Scheduler
On the Setup tab, click Source Manager.![]()
Switch to the Compressor tab.
Click Compressor Scheduler Configuration.![]()
To enable Compressor Scheduler, select the Run Scheduler checkbox.
To lossy compress images in the cache only, after the images have been archived, clear the Enable Lossy Archive checkbox. (The checkbox is cleared by default.)
To enable lossy compression in the cache and archive, select the Enable Lossy Archive checkbox.
![]() | CAUTION! When lossy compression is enabled in both cache and archive, the lossless version is removed from the system. This is not appropriate in all cases, and particularly not when archiving mammography studies. |
To define when the compression jobs are run, use the Compression Start Time and Compression End Time fields. Each can be set to a time between 0 and 23.
To define when diagnosed studies are compressed, set the Study Status to either R (Approved) or D (Dictated), and set the Read Study Age to how old these studies must be, in days.
To define when non-diagnosed studies are compressed, set the Study Age to how old these studies must be.
Set the parameters affecting server performance and storage space.

500 |
| Requested Cache Space (in MB) | The minimum amount of available cache space (in MB) requested by Compressor. | 500 | |
