Studies are scheduled for compression using one of the following compression modes:
Lossy archiving is disabled
Lossy archiving is enabled
Lossy archiving is disabled
When lossy archiving is disabled, the lossless copy must be fully archived on all configured archives in the cluster before a study can be scheduled for lossy compression. In addition, the study must be:
Diagnostically read (Study Status value of D or R must match dosr_study.status) and older than the number of days specified by the Read Study Age value
or
Older than the number of days specified by the Study Age value
If the criteria are satisfied, Compressor Scheduler creates the Compressor job and places it in the Compressor queue defined for the study’s station.
Lossy archiving is enabled
When lossy archiving is enabled, the study is archived after it has been lossy compressed. The lossless copy is removed after the study is successfully lossy JPEG compressed. To be scheduled for lossy compression, the study must be:
Diagnostically read (Study Status value of D or R must match dosr_study.status) and older than number of days specified in the Read Study Age value
or
Older than the number of days specified by the Study Age
If the lossless copy has already been archived, the study must be fully archived before it can be lossy compressed. This ensures that the study is consistently stored in the system. One archive cannot contain a lossless copy while another archive contains a lossy copy.
