Mapping by patient location: Concepts

Patient Location rules are used to group similar examinations for display purposes. For example, a site may have three emergency rooms called ED1, ED2, and ED3. You may want to create a radiology worklist that gathers studies from all of these emergency rooms. To do this, you could map these three rooms to one patient location called “Emergency”, then create a worklist with that value as the location.

Note that the mapping is not based on the current patient location. Rather, it is based on where the patient was when the study was performed.

Patient Location mapping is an additional way to manage studies, to provide greater mapping flexibility to the site.
