Disabling source stations that are unavailable

Occasionally a source station may become unavailable; for instance, when the cache goes down or the station must be physically unplugged. To indicate to the rest of the system that the station is temporarily unavailable, disable the source in the Image Access Manager.

When a source station in the cluster is designated as disabled, all images on that machine are listed as unavailable to the system server. When a user performs a search for a study, the search ignores the disabled machine and looks for the study in any other cluster locations where the study is listed, even if those locations are not normally the “best” locations.

Disabling a station ensures that search time is not wasted looking for studies on an unavailable machine. It also ensures that the search does not fail by looking for studies only on the unavailable machine.

To disable source stations that are unavailable

  1. On the Setup tab, click Image Access Manager. Image Access Manager

  2. From the Source / Disabled table list, select the station to disable.

  3. Select the Disable Source checkbox.

  4. At the prompt, Disabling this source will make the objects stored in it inaccessible. Continue with save?, click Yes.

For the selected source, the Disabled column shows T (True).

Do the reverse—clear the Disable Source checkbox—to re-enable a source station once it is running again. For available sources, the Disabled column shows F (False).
